Intermap’s NEXTMap® Elevation Data to Revolutionize Space and Digital Twin Industries

Published:

  • Intermap Technologies announces a new contract to provide its high-precision NEXTMap® elevation data to a leading global spacecraft/launch/communications operator.
  • The contract follows Intermap’s recent collaborations with USGS, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and U.S. Air Force, solidifying its role as a key player in the aerospace and defense sectors.

DENVER, September 7, 2023 — Intermap Technologies, a global leader in 3D geospatial products and intelligence solutions, has announced a groundbreaking contract that will see its high-precision NEXTMap® elevation data utilized by a leading global spacecraft, launch, and communications operator.

A New Era for Space Infrastructure

The contract aims to use Intermap’s elevation data for simulation, regulatory compliance, and global situational awareness, including ground station RF interference modeling. This move is set to revolutionize the way space infrastructure is developed and maintained, offering near real-time assessments for line of sight, field of view, and RF transmission and interference for multiple prospective ground station locations.

A Growing Market

The digital twin market for simulation modeling is expected to grow to $110 billion by 2028. Intermap’s latest contract comes on the heels of a 12% growth in its monthly recurring revenue for the first half of the year. The company’s data is already a cornerstone in the insurance sector, which has seen a 9.1% increase in rates in 2023 due to natural catastrophes, climate change, and war.

Not Just for Rockets

“Not even rockets can launch today without precise 3D data,” said Patrick A. Blott, Intermap Chairman and CEO. “With this award, Intermap becomes a critical supplier for civil, defense, and commercial customers in a rapidly expanding space and digital twin simulation industry.”

A History of Success

Intermap’s new contract is a continuation of its successful collaborations with the United States Geological Survey (USGS), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and U.S. Air Force. These partnerships have already seen Intermap’s 3D elevation models and vectors play a crucial role in various applications, from facilitating NASA’s Artemis III moon landing simulations to aiding in the Thai soccer team cave rescue in 2018.

The Future is 3D

As the space and digital twin industries continue to grow, Intermap’s high-quality 3D elevation data is set to become increasingly indispensable for civil, defense, and private sector customers. The company’s models and supporting tools are expected to play a pivotal role in the ongoing upgrade of space infrastructure for safety, suitability, and new mission requirements.
