Paris, September 05, 2023– In a significant move that promises to reshape the European space industry, Eutelsat Communications (Euronext Paris: ETL) and venture capital firm Karista have announced a new strategic partnership. Eutelsat will become a new subscriber to Karista’s Spacetech fund, a venture capital initiative that has been actively investing in young French and European companies involved in the space technology revolution.

A Vibrant Space Ecosystem

The partnership aims to consolidate Eutelsat’s existing relationships with innovative startups in the space sector. “We are thrilled to contribute to the growth of a number of French and European startups that are delivering innovative solutions and services in the space industry,” said Eva Berneke, CEO of Eutelsat Communications. The collaboration will play a key role in the development of a vibrant space ecosystem, featuring the latest in space technology in France and across Europe.

Investing in the Future

Since its inception in September 2021, Karista’s Spacetech fund has backed startups with seed/series A investments ranging between €1 million and €5 million. The fund has already invested in seven Spacetech companies, including Miratlas, Leanspace, and Cysec, among others. “This new partnership confirms the growing interest of the world’s leading satcom players in a fast-expanding, rapidly changing market,” commented Olivier Dubuisson, Chairman of Karista.

With this new partnership, Eutelsat aims to add a pivotal dimension to satellite operations and a unique vision of space infrastructure capabilities supporting telecom services. The collaboration is expected to witness the emergence of a new space economy featuring a host of new applications.
