Firefly Aerospace Secures Multi-Launch Agreement with L3Harris, Cementing Its Position in Small-Lift Launch Services

CEDAR PARK, Texas, Sept. 5, 2023 — Firefly Aerospace, Inc., a leading end-to-end space transportation company, has announced a significant multi-launch agreement with L3Harris Technologies [NYSE:LHX]. The deal involves three dedicated launches on Firefly’s Alpha vehicle slated for 2026. This agreement further solidifies Firefly’s standing as a leader in small-lift launch services.

A Boost for National Security

“Firefly is honored to support the ongoing mission needs of L3Harris as they continue to deliver satellite systems that advance our national security,” said Bill Weber, CEO of Firefly Aerospace. The partnership aims to provide L3Harris with rapid launch capabilities, enabling direct access to low Earth orbit (LEO) at a reduced cost. The missions will be launched from Firefly’s SLC-2 launch site at the Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Expanding Capabilities and Infrastructure

Firefly’s Alpha vehicle, capable of launching more than 1,000 kg to LEO, is being ramped up at its rocket manufacturing and test site in Briggs, Texas. The company is also doubling the size of its facilities to support the ongoing development of its medium launch vehicle, set to debut in 2025.

Meeting the Needs of a Growing Industry

The agreement comes as Firefly is scaling its operations to meet the growing demands of both government and commercial customers. Firefly’s comprehensive suite of launch, lunar, and on-orbit services positions the company as a single source for missions ranging from LEO to the Moon and beyond.
