REDONDO BEACH, Calif. – Aug. 24, 2023, Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has made a significant stride in directed energy technology by delivering a miniaturized high-energy laser source to the U.S. government. Named Phantom, the laser is designed for rapid deployment in tactical situations and is ruggedized for field use.
A Compact Marvel
The Phantom laser is a 10kW class high-energy laser that occupies a space of about 12 cubic feet, nearly the size of a mini-fridge. Weighing less than 200 pounds, it can be lifted, carried, and installed by as few as two personnel.

The Phantom laser will be integrated with other subsystems for testing and eventual delivery to military customers.
