October 16, 2023, United States — The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency, on behalf of the United States Space Force, has confirmed the awarding of three Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contracts for Proliferated Low Earth Orbit (PLEO) Satellite-Based Services. These new contracts raise the total number of PLEO awardees to 19.

These contracts will empower the Department of Defense, alongside other federal agencies and international coalition partners, to acquire fully managed satellite-based services across all domains including space, air, land, maritime, and cyber. The focus remains on ensuring a low-latency offering marked by quality and consistency.

The beneficiaries of these awards are notable industry players AT&T, Honeywell Aerospace, and Iridium Satellite LLC. The total cumulative face value of the contracts is $900,000,000 across a period of performance from July 18, 2023, through July 17, 2028, with one, five-year option. The place of performance will be determined by each specific Task Order.

Space Systems Command, a field command under the U.S. Space Force, played a key role in facilitating these awards through its Commercial Satellite Communications Office. The multiple award contract model introduced by the Space Systems Command has been hailed as a groundbreaking initiative in government SATCOM procurement, promising faster and cost-effective capabilities for the warfighter.

The solicitation for these contracts was undertaken through the governmentwide point-of-entry, SAM.gov, with a total of twenty-five proposals received from an inclusive and open competition.
