In a game-changing announcement today, Northrop Grumman revealed its vision for a connected, multidomain battlespace powered by its Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS). This new system aims to fundamentally alter the way allied forces operate, enabling them to work seamlessly together across various domains.

A Paradigm Shift in Warfare

Don Fryc, Northrop Grumman’s business development manager and a 34-year career U.S. Army Air Defender, described the development as “paradigm-changing.” He likened the shift to “moving from the horse to the tank,” emphasizing its transformational impact on the Army. “Northrop Grumman is delivering today on our vision of a battlespace where the fight is fundamentally changed,” Fryc said. “We are allowing warfighters to make faster, more accurate, joint decisions to defeat any threat.”

BattleOne™: The Vision Behind the Innovation

The company’s vision, known as BattleOne™, draws upon its proven battle management capabilities. IBCS serves as a fundamental element, unifying all sensors and effectors in the battlespace. This enables the most effective weapon to neutralize threats, offering warfighters unprecedented scale and flexibility.

A Unified Command and Control System

IBCS connects multi-service and multi-national sensors and effectors into one command and control system. This integration is the cornerstone of modern air and missile defense strategy. “Through modular, open, and scalable architectures, we give warfighters capabilities they never had before,” said Rebecca Torzone, vice president and general manager, combat systems and mission readiness, Northrop Grumman.

The Future is Now

With IBCS, the future of command and control is unlocked. The system provides an open, modular, and scalable architecture that is foundational in deploying a truly integrated network. “We are giving warfighters capabilities they never had before, by providing data from across the entire battlespace,” Fryc explains.
